Easter 7: "The Day of Being Whipsawed"

When we hit a feast day in the Church calendar, like the Day of the Ascension, it's easy to be celebratory. Yes, it is a major event in the history of the Church.

But we've become such an institution that we've forgotten just how life-threateningly crazy following Jesus could be for the Disciples. From the Betrayal in the Garden to the Empty Tomb. From The Risen Christ walking through doors, then disappearing again. Before the Spirit came, they were running on adrenaline. Hope. Fear. Rinse and repeat. Are we really so different?
